PERFORMANCE
Ford Ranger

Trucks are known for their burly and gnarling performance, which may leave you with a few questions. What powers up these midsize trucks? What helps them conquer terrain and take names? What propels them toward adventure? Find out below.

Torque and Shout

Both the Ford and the Honda have one engine each. In fact, each generates over 260 horsepower with ease, delivering steadfast acceleration to all your drives. However, when comparing standard torque, the Ranger takes the win:

  • Ford: 310 lb-ft of torque
  • Honda: 262 lb-ft of torque

Why is more torque important for your mighty truck? More torque makes hauling heavy loads or tackling steep inclines feel like a breeze. That being said, the Ranger may be the better option for towing and trail riding. Just how much can each truck tow, though?

What Will You Tow First?

When properly equipped, the Honda Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 pounds. This is the equivalent of a small hard-sided RV, a small recreational boat, or a couple personal watercrafts. The Ford Ranger can tow these items as well and then some thanks to its 7,500-pound maximum towing capacity.

Although these trucks can tow similar toys, if you have anything larger at home, the Ranger will tap into its Built Ford Tough mentality and get to work.

DESIGN
Ford Ranger

When the weekend rolls around, your options are limitless. You could book a stay at your favorite campground or cabin. You could ditch the great outdoors for the home improvement store. Whatever you choose to do, the Ranger and the Ridgeline are built for the job.

Utility Room Included

When you need to haul lumber, gardening tools, or even a new appliance home, the Ford and the Honda have tough cargo beds to carry it all. The Ridgeline specifically has one bed option, and it can hold up to 33.9 cubic feet of supplies.

The Ranger, on the other hand, has two bed options: a 5-foot bed and a 6-foot bed. How much volume does each have?

  • 5-foot Bed: 43.3 cubic feet
  • 6-foot Bed: 51.8 cubic feet

Overall, the Ford allows you to choose a model with the perfect amount of space you need. Plus, the Ranger offers more cargo volume than the Ridgeline, meaning it always has extended space for your hobbies and hammers.

Built for Adventure

Due to their smaller stature, athletic composition, and contagious energy, the Ranger and the Ridgeline make great off-roading companions. In fact, both models are available with packages that upgrade them with off-road hardware and unique war paint. Take the Ranger’s Tremor® Off-Road Package or the Ridgeline’s Honda Performance Development™ (HPD™) Package, for example.

Without a package upgrade, though, the Ford allows you to easily protect what’s already there. With its standard 8.4-inch ground clearance, the Ranger may be better suited for the trails compared to the Ridgeline. The Honda has a standard ground clearance of 7.64 inches. This is as tall as it gets for the Ridgeline; however, the Ranger has an available 9.7-inch ground clearance too!

TECHNOLOGY
Ford Ranger

The Ford and the Honda are rugged and ready. Inside their respective cabins, they’re also entertaining and engaging. With driver-centric cockpits in either truck, you can keep in touch with your friends and family or escape into your ideal entertainment as you drive.

Technology Tune-Ups

Both models have built-in infotainment suites that work alongside smartphone integration features, like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Bluetooth®. These connectivity features allow you to pair your phone to the infotainment system so you can play music, finish your current audiobook, or tune in to a podcast episode.

You may prefer the Ford during your on-road me time, though, thanks to the available 10-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®. The Honda comes close with its Premium Audio System, but it falls flat with eight speakers. The two additional speakers in the Ranger will enhance your listening experience tenfold.

Hey Alexa!

What if you could take Amazon Alexa everywhere you go? With the Ford+Alexa app, you can bring your favorite AI to your Ranger! You read that right—Amazon Alexa can go mobile. Plus, this app unlocks over 50,000 Amazon Alexa skills, like:

  • Voice navigation
  • Traffic data
  • Smart-home control
  • Prime shopping
  • And more!

Unfortunately, the Honda Ridgeline goes without this integration that provides a digital assistant wherever you go.
